Artist Statement
Initially interested in traditional silversmithing, I learned techniques of hammering and forming and fell in love with creating sculptural and abstract vessels from copper, silver and steel. I was inspired by the smooth curves and furrows that water molds through earth and stone. Movement and fluidity were key elements of these sculptures and remain visible in my work today. In 2004, I turned to making jewelry, using some of the same techniques I honed in crafting vessels. The hammer remains my favorite tool in the studio and I most love forging gold, platinum, silver and copper. I look for unusual stones and pearls that stay true to my simple and fluid design aesthetic.
