Artist Statement
I create intricate glass orbs that contain dramatic optical illusions. Built in many layers of glass, starting from the inside out, pieces taking anywhere from hours to days to complete. Designs are produced by vaporizing gold and silver for pigment, often around an opal suspended inside of the piece. I also incorporate a highly reflective material, dichroic glass; initially developed for aerospace and laser technologies. My pieces are intended to create a tangible space for the mind to wonder.
