Artist Statement
Cali is a professional artist specializing in hand-colored black and white photographs, using traditional silver-process techniques to shoot, develop and print black and white film, then hand-coloring the photographs using artist's oils. All work is done by the artistâ??s hand, utilizing a film camera and a black and white silver-process darkroom. Between the variability of printing the negative individually and then hand-coloring the photograph, each piece in an edition is unique. The work is produced in editions from five to two hundred.
