Artist Statement
My work is inspired by my interactions with nature. I attempt to convey the beauty that I see in abstract. Starting with canvas or wood, the pieces are a wash of color and layered texture. The materials are poured, pushed, texturized, and cajoled to open up abstract designs creating a wide range of images from vistas in far distance to small still life. Each piece is created by layering acrylics, paper, fiber, gel medium, varnish, plexiglass, and other materials to create depth and dimension. I strive to create a mood through the use of color and depth. I start with small studies and begin larger pieces when I find the colors and textures that express my views and visions.
