Artist Statement
With each of my works, I attempt to access the raw creativity of the right brain. The key is to allow the subconscious mind to take over for a while and tell a story. The resulting composition is like a feeling, a mood, or a half-formed thought. I employ texture, color and the interplay between the two to express emotions through complexity and depth. I work with layers and dimensionality created with scraping techniques in an instinctive, gestural style. Composition is dispersed, so that each finished piece is an object unto itself, while its intricacies encourage contemplation.
