Artist Statement
I was raised in the coastal south where the love of a good garden, an assortment of animals, and long days on the water were an intrinsic part of my childhood. Today, I still live close to where these memories were made and I use this nearby proximity and its marriage to my love of storytelling to create paintings that speak in layered language. First, there is the story and then, there is the metaphor. The viewer can choose-Is the bird just a bird?
