Artist Statement
My work uses the subject of the landscape as a means of processing my response to the natural world which is often something ineffable. I also see the landscape as a vehicle for immersing myself in the process of painting and exploring the fundamental components of visual dynamics. Value, color, gesture, and composition all play out across the surface of my paintings until I arrive at a place that feels both harmonious and full of tension.
