Artist Statement
I create sculptural wood objects with both hand and power tools in a single man studio.
I draw inspiration from two main sources; the simple and clean forms of modern architecture and design, and from the natural environment where I live.
My primary source for materials is from discarded wood from local sawmills. The lines and textures I carve into the wood are intended to give a sense of movement. I often paint or burn the surface to enhance the texture. To balance the organic carved forms I work mostly with squares, rectangles and grids
